![]() I became better acquainted with Kevin Luttrell last year when he was struggling with the tragic loss of his sister, Jessica. Kevin dealt with his loss with such strength of character that I learned many lessons from him. Kevin now understands that this life is not permanent, but he continues to embrace his own with enthusiasm and courage. His positive attitude adds a sparkle to West Elementary where he strives to do his very best. For the second year he has been chosen by his class to serve as a conflict manager at recess where he helps students solve problems. He will soon graduate from Cub Scouts where he successfully earned two religious awards and all pins possible. Through the scouting program and in conjunction with the Attorney General's Office, Kevin earned a special award for pledging to stay away from harmful activities, and for teaching senior citizens how to detect fraud. In a very special recognition, Kevin was elected by his church to serve as alter boy for the Bishop. At home Kevin selflessly gives of his time to help his family and his grandparents. He visits his 101 year-old grandmother every week at the care center. Kevin's big sister left him a legacy of love and because of her influence, he strives to be the best brother he can be for his little sister, Miss Jenn. I know that he has and will continue to impact the lives of many people. . . . . . Jeannie Robinson, School Counselor, West Elementary |
